How to Care for Your Fresh Christmas Tree in Florida

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree!

We all like the traditional Christmas Tree- the Fraser Fir, known as the “Cadillac of Trees” because it keeps its needles a long time, has a great aroma and the branches are very strong to hold ornaments plus its a hardy tree.  And being in Florida, we all want a Hardy Tree!  So  a few steps to help keep your tree shining bright;

Best Christmas Trees!

  1. Put the tree in water as soon as you get it! (Very IMPORTANT!!)
  2. When you buy your tree at North Pole Christmas Trees, we make a fresh cut to remove 1/2″ or more disk of wood from the base of the trunk before putting the tree in the stand.  ( A Little Tip: You can find out how old your tree is from the disk of wood that is cut off the base. Simply count the lines from the outside to the center and that is how old your tree is.
  3. Once you get home, place the tree in water.  If you are going to wait on putting your tree up, place the tree in a bucket of water as soon as possible out of the sun.
  4. To display the tree indoors, use a stand with an adequate water holding capacity for the tree.  North Pole Christmas Trees sell these tree stands.
  5. If you have to whittle the sides of the trunk down to fit into your tree stand then the stand is  way too small plus avoid whittling the trunk as the outer layers of wood are the most efficient in taking up water and should Not be removed.
  6. Avoid putting your tree in the direct sunlight or any other heat source.
  7. Check the stand daily to make sure the tree has water.
  8. Drilling holes in the base of the trunk does not improve the water intake.
  9. Using lights that produces low heat like LED lights will reduce drying of the tree.
  10. To prolong your tree, North Pole Christmas Trees sells a liquid to put into the water called Prolong.  Remember to pick up a bottle when you buy your tree.
  11. Now go ENJOY your Fresh Christmas Tree and start Decorating it!
